Welcome to Femmes With Pens

This is a different kind of blog.

We aren't going to get the groovy kinds of comments and feedback, accelerated page rank or listings in Google.  That's not the mission of the page or the vision I have for this group.

If you are reading this it means that you and I have already had a lengthy discussion about my ability to recruit online writing subcontract work.  So much so that at times I have to turn away work because there are only so many hours in the day or week.

It's not a scam.  Here's the deal.

I'm 37 and employed full time in a non-profit in Toronto.  It's a day job.  It doesn't pay much which is typical I think of most Assistant positions particularly for women.  Having divorced in 2007 I was left with some debt from my previous marriage and start up costs of living on my own.   Since 2008 I have been actively involved online "branding" my pen name Skylar Smythe in the hopes of turning my passion for writing into a part time (and possibly full time) contract career.

If someone likes my writing and is willing to pay me for writing 400-500 word articles at home on evenings and weekends, well that's wonderful.  In my humble world, that's a night out to the movies, tank of gas or half of my single girl weekly groceries.

I'm looking for other women like me.  I'm inspired to teach talented women how to access this hidden job market for writing and SEO content as the demand for this service is going to increase exponentially within the next five years.  Get in on the ground level now and with the right clients it can turn into a very profitable venture for each of us.  No gimmicks. No tricks.  No making a commission off your hard work or anything that smells like one of those scams.  There is a market for quality content.

I find the clients.  I bid.  If I win the bid.  We write.  We get paid, and split evenly according to the number of articles we wrote.  If we are paid $100 for 50 articles, and you wrote 20 of them?  You'll get $40 by PayPal.  I'm not your employer.  I have no plans to take on that responsibility.  I am simply going to direct traffic to the group so that we can all make money.

Eventually you may decide you want to put in the effort to source your own clients.   I can show you how to do that too.  I'll just feel honored to have worked with you and to have created an opportunity for you to thrive on your own and feel great about that, as a woman.  I like to teach.  And I like to help.

I will post opportunties here on this blog.  I will keep my clients confidential however.  The posts will be article requirements.  Simply read and let me know by commenting on the post if you want to do some of the articles.  Your decision is entirely your own.  How many articles do you want to do?  If it is a topic matter you are really knowledgeable in I will defer to the specialists first.

Freaked out yet?  That's the whole game plan in a nutshell.  This group will remain invite only subject to my inclusion for our team.  If you'd like to refer someone to the group please have them email me at: skylar.smythe@live.ca with a sample of their writing.

I'll be conducting workshops commencing in October 2011 to teach everyone how to do this kind of work.   If you are interested in receiving an invite to the seminar (conducted in Second Life) please contact me.
